Use for a chi-square goodness-of-fit test.
First enter the observed frequencies as positive integers in a column of the Sample Editor window.
Also enter a second column consisting of either the frequency counts that are expected or the proportions expected for each category.
Select Analysis, Goodness-of-Fit.
Select the option of “Unequal Expected Frequencies” to test the null hypothesis that the different categories have probabilities that are not all the same.
Enter a significance level, such as 0.05.
Identify the column containing the observed frequencies.
Identify the column containing either the expected frequency counts or the expected proportions.
Results include the chi-square “Test Statistic” and the critical value of chi-square, and the P-value.
