McNemar’s Test

The headings of "Condition A" and "Condition B" are generic, but other specific headings can be used, such as "Presence of Rash" and "Absence of Rash."

The entries must be frequency counts consisting of positive whole numbers.
Caution: Because the calculations use only the entries from the "discordant" pairs, be careful to enter the values correctly and consistently.

Enter the first value, then press the Tab key and proceed to enter a value in the second cell. Press Tab and enter the third value, then press Tab and enter the fourth value.
(Do not try to enter the row and column totals. They will be computed by STATDISK.)

Enter a significance level if the default value of 0.05 is not the desired value. (Values such as 0.01 or 0.10 are common.) To enter a different significance level, click on the cell identified as "Significance level," then press the backspace key to delete the default entry of 0.05, then enter the desired value.

Click Evaluate when finished.

The test statistic is computed using (|b - c| -1)^2/(b + c), which includes a correction for continuity. The uncorrected test statistic shown at the bottom of the display is (b - c)^2/(b + c), which does not include a correction for continuity.
