Runs Test for Randomness

The runs test is a nonparametric test. It is a systematic and standard procedure for testing the randomness of data, and it is based on the order in which the data occur, not on the frequency of data.

Note: This test requires that you first determine the number of runs, the number of elements of the first type, and the number of elements of the second type.

Significance (level): Enter a positive value in decimal form, such as 0.05.

Enter the runs.
Enter the number of elements of the first type.
Enter the number of elements of the second type.

Click on the Evaluate button to obtain the results.

Click on the Print button to print the results.

Click on the Plot button to obtain a graph showing the test statistic and critical value. Note: A graph will be generated only when the normal distribution approximation is used.

To close the window, click on the X at the top of the module window.
