Scatterplot

Note: This module requires two columns of paired data that are already listed in the STATDISK data window.

This module uses two equal-length columns. If the data are not already in the STATDISK Data Window, close this window and enter or open data sets so that they are listed in columns of the STATDISK Data Window. (To open a data set from Appendix B in the textbook, click on "Datasets" at the top. To manually enter a data set, click on Data, then click on Sample Editor. The data can also be copied into STATDISK from another application, such as Minitab or Excel.)

Now select the columns to be used for the x variable and the y variable. To change the default values, click on the small box to the right of the existing column number, then scroll down to the desired column number and click on it. (NOTE: Not all values of the x variable can be equal.)

Click on the Plot button to obtain the scatterplot.

The labels (coordinates of the individual points) can be included or excluded by clicking of the "Turn on labels" or "Turn off labels" button near the bottom.

The graph of the regression line can be included or excluded by clicking on the box next to "Regression line" near the bottom.

Click on the Print button to print the results.

To close the window, click on the X at the top of the module window.
